since my last post, a lot of interest has been building up around William Boatright’s Bogie-NN-v8 Expert Advisor. if everyone who got the 20% discount link from me subscribed to it, i would estimate that almost 40 visitors of this blog are already trading with it (including me of course :O)

i apologize for the delay in getting a preliminary review of the EA out. just managed to get round to it after spending a good part of the day looking at the trades. i figured that the only way to really see what Bogie-NN-v8 was doing is to plot everything out on the chart.

this is the result :

i’ve only plotted 16 of the 17 completed trades here (trade #17 was +68 pips)… and as i’m writing this, trade #18 is still open with a +23 pips gain. *nice* :O)

what impressed me most was how the EA was able to flip a LONG trade into a SHORT position (and vice versa) with excellent timing while keeping good profits on both sides. have a look at how the following trades played out from the above chart :

trade #9 going into trade #10
trade #10 going into trade #11
trade #11 going into trade #12
trade #15 going into trade #16

as you can see, Bogie-NN-v8 has also been really accurate in getting in in the right direction very early, sometimes even BEFORE the trend clearly shows itself. and it’s also doing very well in detecting a trend reversal where it flips a LONG position into a SHORT position (and vice versa) to get the most out of the price movement.

the hard stop loss of 200 pips has yet to be hit in my forward-test (although the first trade came close). other than that, the EA has been smart enough to reverse it’s position or cut it’s losses short. the EA seems to have some trouble when price is flat and going nowhere, and it triumphs when price begins to trend (be it up or down).

i believe that William Boatright’s got a winner here. however, after seeing so many EAs rise and fall, all i can confidently say is that Bogie-NN-v8 is currently the ‘flavor of the month’. it’s profitability and consistency has been fantastic so far, and i really hope that it will maintain like that for as long as possible.

the Bogie-NN-8 EA was officially launched on 1st June 2008. and this time round, William has made available a FREE DEMO that will work till 1st Sept 2008 (a very rare practice for commercial EAs, but a very welcomed move for consumers!)

i’m running the demo on default settings… and in just barely 3 weeks, the demo account is up almost +40% (it would be +53.11% if i closed the existing trade to take the $1,326.00 profit!… that’s 191 pips!)

William Boatright is highly respected in the EA development community. i believe his niche is in optimization. a friend in Facebook once called him the “Optimization Beast”… and that’s a compliment :O)

anyway, in my opinion, William is a good man. since his fame at the ATC2007, he’s been working really hard in replicating the success that he had in a very challenging market. with the relaease of Bogie-NN-v8, i believe he has created something that deserves our attention.  but putting all the excitement aside, i must also declare my reservations about this EA (or any other EAs that show excellent forward-testing results, fondly remembering the older version of DoublePlay and RobinHood).

being bitten by the Bogie-ATC2007-1 EA back in Jan 2008 with many others, the million-dollar question in my mind now (and i believe you would be asking too) is…

“how long will this last?“.

BUT…. there’s also another louder voice in my head that’s bugging me with…

“JUST DO IT!… WHILE IT’S STILL WORKING!!“

this is going to be a thought that’s going to be with me through the weekend. i’ll be looking into the statement more carefully to determine if the risks are acceptable, as well as if the entries are good from the start. will post a preliminary “review” about Bogie-NN-v8 hopefully by Monday. do stay tuned!!
